Monthly Events

Castlemaine Farmers' Market
Meet the growers and producers from the region, including Taste of Gold people. Sample the local produce then make your choice - and plan a visit to some local attractions afterwards.
Location & Time: Castlemaine Visitor Information Centre, Castlemaine, 1st Sunday in month, 9am to 1pm

Kyneton Farmers' Market
Featuring fresh in-season produce, fine local wines, the best olive oils, preserves, pasta, plants and more. Art and craft market in March and September.

Talbot Farmers Market
Held on the third Sunday of every month from 9am to 1pm, Talbot Farmers Market embraces 70 stalls with seasonal harvest foods, regional wines and ales, small livestock, condiments, bakery items, cheeses, plants, heirloom seeds and much, much more.

Buda Historic Home & Garden
Buda is one of the great heritage assets of the region.  Built in 1861 and home to noted silversmith Ernest Liviny from 1863 and is set in 1.2 hectares of enchanting gardens.

The Great Dividing Trail Leanganook Track completes the northern leg of the Great Dividing Trail.  The Trail passes through the Castlemaine Diggings National Heritage Park, traverses the summit of Mt. Alexander and follows the historic Coliban Water Main Channel to the outskirts of Bendigo.  Trail maps available at Castlemaine Visitor Centre.

MALDON

Maldon-Castlemaine Historic Steam Train
Winding through forest and open land in Central Victoria, the Victorian Goldfields Railway, through the efforts of volunteers, has taken on a new life as a heritage railway, enabling the visitor to see, hear and participate in an active steam railway from the era of the branchline.

The Bridge Regional Picnic - at Redesdale 
Proudly supported by the Coliban Bridge Trail and part of the Melbourne Food & Wine Festival, this new event is all about celebrating the history of the Redesdale area, the fantastic regional produce we have to offer and a great but quirky story about our Bridge.  Call beforehand to order your picnic hamper of fabulous local produce. On the day there will be regional food, local wines, great music, childrens entertainment and a fun community spirit.

Heritage Weekend in Central Goldfields - 17 & 18th April 2010 
Explore our heritage, cultural and other secrets in a weekend in Central Victoria.  Visit 4 heritage homes, a working historic family farm, join a guided cultural walk with Jaara elders, and sample local wines, produce and restaurants.  Many things to do and many things to visit.  Drive yourself around or jump on a Shuttle bus.  Tickets $50 (or $15 under 15 years) and program available from Maryborough Information Centre.

Maldon & Beyond Food & Wine Festival

Kyneton Wine Show - part of the annual Kyneton & District Agricultural Show
